That’s definitely going to have an affect on the way things are thought of. I’ve learned more in the last 10 years than I’ve learned in my entire life. I think living in different cities affects that. The elements are all the same, it’s just the inspirations that have changed. Has the way you write a song changed as the band has changed? We always want to progress, but we never have a plan of how we’re going to do that.

We made an Alkaline Trio record, but if you listen to our first record and you listen to this record, I think you can call us the same band but it’s more experienced. Our tastes change and our ideas change and that’s going to have an affect on the music. You never want to make the same record twice. Progression is something you always want.

You can never really plan anything too much, but there’s definitely been growth. So it’s still just as much fun, just in a different way and a lot less chaotic.ĭo you think your evolution as a band has been a conscious thing? We still like to have a good time, but we take much better care of ourselves and I think we put on better shows. The lifestyle changes a little bit as you get older, but that’s good though.
